Natural ventilation and cross-ventilation
Shading devices (overhangs, louvers, trees)
Green roofs and walls for cooling
Reflective materials (e.g. cool paint)
How do buildings reduce carbon emissions?
Examples:
Alternative cooling technologies (e.g. hybrid cooling, passive displacement cooling, mix mode ventilation)
Energy efficient systems (e.g. air conditioning)
Renewable energy (e.g. solar energy)
Automatic controls and sensors (e.g. lighting, Occupant-Centric aircon systems)
Smart facilities/energy management (e.g. Building Management Systems, application of AI, Robotics and Automation)
Embodied carbon reduction measures / Sustainable building materials (e.g. Green Concrete, Green steel, Mass Engineered Timbre) and alternative materials (e.g. Carbon Mineralised Concrete, Recycled Concrete Aggregate, Ordinary Portland Cement)
Design for Maintainability
